A little bump doesn't mean you stay off the road

Wow! It has been a while since I've posted anything. We went up to the lake for 4 days during the 4th. It was nice to get away. I made one little mistake though. I thought I was doing so good! I packed my Heart Rate Monitor, my workout clothes, my mp3 player and arm thingy majigger to hold it in, and my waist water bottle holder. I was gonna run each morning! When I was getting all my "gear" ready the night we got there. I was so upset! I didn't pack my running shoes! I could not believe it! How could I be so lame! So, Jonathan and I would go for a stroll now and then in our flip flops, which I guess, is better than nothing. I brought turkey burgers for myself, hoping I would be able to eat well. Let me just say, I ate well for about one night. Waking up the next morning I did well also. It was the chips that I could not resist while playing games. What is it about snacking while playing games that makes me think you can't have one without the other? Anyway, I ended up having S'mores that evening too. Well, everybody knows that on the 4th of July if you have a fire going, you must roast marshmallows, right? Yikes, I was not very proud of myself, but was able to let myself have some fun with friends and family. Yes, I over-indulged, but forgave myself and am now back on track. Maybe that is why I haven't been on. But ya know, everyone fails. You just have to get back at it! I have noticed in the past that when I mess up, I give up. Not anymore! I am worth more than that! So, as far as progress goes......this morning I weighed in at an even 200. I am down 7 pounds. Not bad, not bad at all and I feel GREAT!

Still going!

I worked out this morning and it felt great! I am definitely enjoying the benefits, as I continue on my routine. I ate well today, even though it was hard not to eat a cupcake as Isabelle made them with her Auntie Hanna. I am entering a local contest at the gym called "The Biggest Winner". My husband is a current contestant and has seen results. I am a pretty competitive person, so I think I will work really hard at it. We shall see if I get chosen. I will find out in about a month.
My protein shake was so good this morning I wanted to share it with you.

12 oz. cold water
6 ice cubes
1 scoop vanilla protein powder
2 tsp. instant coffee
1 tbsp. Coconut Creme Coffeemate (or other flavor)
Blend in blender and enjoy.....mmmmmm

Sunday, Sunday!

It is Sunday and I will be weighing in each week on this day. Today I weigh 203.5, which means I am down 3.5 pounds from last week. I am embarrassed to tell anyone this, but it helps me want to lose the weight even more. My goal is to weigh 170, maybe less if it is healthy for me. I am 6 feet tall! I will not work out today (or any Sunday). It is my cheat day! However, I will still eat healthy today, since Wednesday I had some cake at my brother-in-laws birthday party. Last week I worked out Monday-Saturday and hope that I will do this every week. Monday, Wednesday, Friday I did 25 minutes of cardio along with 80 crunches. Tues, Thurs, and Sat I did weight training (modified compound supersets, all major muscle groups). I will be doing this same routine this coming week and then changing it the following week. I am eating 5-6 times a day. The meals are about 250-300 calories, with balanced amounts of protein and carbs.

Getting in shape

Right now I am focusing on a lifestyle change. Since my brother was murdered two years ago, I have gained about 20 pounds. Apparently I'm what they call "An Emotional Eater". I am now eating healthier and exercising more. I hope to lose the 20 pounds by my birthday (August 25). I will keep you posted and would love to share with you what it is that works for me.
